Flying High For CD Sunday

I've only just found time to play along with this weeks challenge at CD Sunday and I'm sure I'll still be a last minute entrant when they change to fortnightly next week! The theme is Tots to Teenagers and I found this image already printed from the Faye Whittaker Collection. The backing paper is from a pad which was free withQuick Cards Made Easy. The red card is from my snippets file and they're not all quite the same red but once I'd embossed and sanded, it doesn't show. Three buttons from my stash and a Craftwork Cards sentiment to finish.

Fathers Day for Cuttlebug Mania

We're getting ahead with out Father's Day cards here at Cuttlebug Mania so we want to see your cards for DAD. For my card I've used this sketch from Sketch Saturday

The backing papers are the new Heritage Press by DoCrafts. The bottom of the blue paper has been cut with a Dienamics chevron die. These papers are just great and although my striped paper has lots of different images, the pocket watches seem to stand out most so I've used the watch stamp and die from Sizzix For The Record Framelets set. The main stamp is by Woodware simply called Dad which I've cut out and layered with square Nesties. My flag strip has been embossed with the XCut Tartan embossing folder although it doesn't show up in the picture

So why not get ahead with your Father's Day cards, we'd love to see what you come up with

1-2-3 At Cardz 4 Guyz

It's our 20th challenge at Cardz 4 Guyz and this week it was my turn to choose the theme so I've gone for 1-2-3. We want to see 1 of something, 2 of something and 3 of something. There are so many options for this but I've gone for simplicity and chosen 1 image (a Kanban topper), 2 backing papers (by Wild Rose Studio) and 3 embellishments (from my newly sorted stash)

I just thought I'd show you my newly sorted charm box

It's an A4 clear box with 32 smaller boxes and you can use the large lid to tip them into and sort out

It took a couple of evenings to sort but so much easier to use and for now I know what I have

One For The Boys at CD Sunday

I love this image from Giordano's Puppies and Kittens. In fact I love all the images on this fabulous CD but I've used this one on both masculine and feminine cards depending how you embellish it and as the challenge at CD Sunday is One For The Boys, I've gone quite simple. I've used this sketch from Feeling Sketchy

I've used a new X-cut embossing folder which is part of they're new masculine range and distressed it with Rusty Hinge ink. The sentiment was free with the latest DoCrafts magazine. I must admit this is the first time I've bought the magazine since it went up by £2 but the vouchers inside made it worth it this time. The flowerpot, twine and brads are from my stash

1-2-3D Punch

I found these 1-2-3D Punch sheets in my craft stash and thought they would be great for the Technique Twist challenge which is 3D flowers. I had to search for the matching punches but soon found them under my desk so I sat punching them out and sticking them last night. I wasn't quite sure how to place it on the card then came upon this sketch at Freshly Made Sketches although I've rotated it
I've embossed the base card with a free embossing folder from Cardmaking & Papercarft. The green snippets card was a little plain so I've stamped and clear embossed a flower vine. A simple sentiment and the card is finished. I'm also taking this over to Pixie's Snippets Playground

This is another panel I did from the same sheet

Cards 4 Guyz Action

It's Tuesday so time for another challenge at Cardz 4 Guyz and this week we want to see your action cards so anything with an element that moves. I was going for a waterfall card but found this topper in my stash. It's a Designaslider by Red Hot Bed who went out of business some years ago. It took a few minutes to work out how it went together as there were no instructions but it's quite a clever little thing and goes well with the background paper. The little watering cans are from a Marianne die and the wheelbarrow charm is from my stash. I think this may be hubby's card if I can remember where it is come August

We'd love to see what you come up with for this challenge

Victorian Beauties For CD Sunday

Once again I'm quite late for the CD Sunday challenge. Since I've been trying to get fitter, time in my craft room has given away to cycling. and gardening although I still seem to be buying the same amount of craft stash. Today I made time to play and came up with this card using Joanna Sheen's Victorian Romance CD. I knew I wanted to do something less obvious and when I saw this image I knew that was it. I can just here my late uncle saying "what a beauty" if he saw a car like this so I thought it would fit the bill well

Nautical for Cardz 4 Guyz

It's Tuesday so time for another challenge at Cardz 4 Guyz and this week we want to see your Nautical cards. I've used a Kanban topper and tag from a kit. The sparkly sand paper and shells are from the same kit. For the background, I used a cloud die and sponged ink over it to give the sky effect and then stamped over with a script background stamp

So why not pop over to the Cardz 4 Guyz challenge blog and see what the other girls have come up with. Don't forget your cards can be for any age as long as they're masculine

Triple Stamping for Technique Twist

I forgot about this challenge until I saw the new one come up but luckily they overlap so I had time this morning to create this quick card. I've used the Greenhouse Garden Stampin Up set which is a two step set. I stamped all the flowers and got out my Stampamijig to line up the second stamping and dropped the stamp on the card! It wasn't something that could be hidden well so I just went with it and stamped it randomly over the card. I then used a smaller stamp for the flowers and quite liked the final effect. This set makes a great background. My twist on this technique is actually a cheat so I'm not sure if it will count for the challenge as I've only stamped it on one piece of card and cut the layers with Nesties. The final effect is the the same although the card is lighter than if you had the full layers.

Doily And Butterflies And A New Die

This Happy Birthday die had been on my wish list for some time but always got bumped by other things. So I was chuffed to bits to win it at Pixie's Snippets Playground last week. It popped through the letterbox this morning (thanks Di x) so I had to have a play. I've used it on my card for The Butterfly Challenge this week which is to use a doily. I'm also entering this back at the Playground because the doily is from my snippets box. I cut it ages ago but it "double cut" so if you look closely the small holes around the centre which should be round but most are oval where the paper moved on the second cut. It also tore when I took it out so I put it away to rescue later. I thought this fan idea would disguise it enough to use

Someone Special at CD Sunday

The challenge this week at CD Sunday is to make a card for someone special. This is a card for my Aunt. It's not her birthday but she has taken up knitting again now her chemo is finished and this cutie from Joanna Sheen's Furry Friends reminds me of her little kitten so I just thought she'd like it. All the embellishments are die cut from snippets so I'm also playing along at Pixie's Snippets Playground

Glamorous Butterfly

The current challenge at the Butterfly Challenge is Glamorous Butterflies. I did enter my Cuttlebug Mania card as the butterflies has Wink Of Stella on them but they weren't really that glam. So today while waiting in for a parcel, I had another go and this is the result

I'm also entering this into the Crafty Cardmakers challenge which is It's a Bug's Life

It's pretty difficult to get a decent picture because of all the sparkle

The stamp is Woodware's Bubble Butterfly and the sentiment is from Stampin Up's Oval All set, both stamped with Peacock Feathers distress ink. The bubbles were filled in with a range of sparkly products shown below

There's still time to play along with both challenges so why not pop over and see what the lovely Mrs A and her team have created and the inspirational team at Crafty Cardmakers
