Man's Best Friend at Cardz 4 Guyz

It's Tuesday so we have another challenge for you at Cardz 4 Guyz and this week our theme is Man's Best Friend so we want to see your masculine cards with a dog on. For my card I've used this sketch from Seems a Little Sketchy

I've used a new set by Stampin Up called Hot Diggity Dog and a Crafts Too embossing folder

Highland Painter

It's my SIL's birthday next week and I'm never sure what sort of card to make her so I asked my brother for ideas. The only thing he could come up with is that she's about to decorate their lounge in a Scottish theme so he suggested mountains, log cabins, deer, tartan and heather! It all sounded a bit masculine to me so I've just gone with the decorating, tartan and heather. I've based it on this sketch from Seems A Little Sketchy but it may not be close enough to the layout

The backing paper is from a Paper Cellar pad of tartan papers which I bought for use on masculine cards but this one was just right. Themain  image is an old one from The Digi Garden and is no longer available. The pot and brushes are from a Personal Impressions set by Cathie Shuttleworth called DIY Bits. I've used Promarkers to colour and added some glossy accents on the paint

Fox & Friends Take 2

When I did my card for the CD Sunday Fox & Friends I printed off two images from the Giordano's Christmas Creations CD so this little chap has been sat on my desk all week gradually getting buried by other things. He came to light this morning while I was clearing my desk so I decided to do a quick card with him following this layout at Seems A Little Sketchy

The backing paper is from the same set and I love the mix of soft blue and peachy brown on the design. It looks like a cold and frosty morning. The blue panel is embossed with a Cuttlebug folder from the Give A Hoot set and the peach one is embossed with Couture Creations Bon Jour folder. The three leaves are punched from snippets of card with n X-Cut punch which also embosses. The little acorn is from the Tim Holtz Autumn Gatherings decorative strip and I thought it made a good centrepiece for the leaves. A few gems to finish. I'm also going to put this over to the Snippets Playground as the gates are still open this week and entering it into The Male Room challenge which is Nature

CD Sunday Butterflies

It's a butterfly challenge at CD Sunday this week. I've used this layout from Seems A Little Sketchy for my card

I had in my mind straight away what image I wanted to use for this challenge but couldn't remember what CD it was on. As soon as I opened the Moorehead CD I knew it was the right one and this little cutie popped up. The backing paper is one I got in a swap but I love the subtle colours. I've used a butterfly embossing folder which was free with Papercraft Essentials on the orange card and the Darice Paw Print border folder on the white piece. The butterfly sentiment is by Craftwork Cards and I've coloured it with Dried Marigold Distress Ink to match. Some gems and the card is finished

Gift Card Holder

The challenge at My Craft Spot is to make a gift card holder. I've used this sketch at Seems A Little Sketchy for the front

I've used some pretty pink paper that's been say on my desk for ages and a cute Lily Of The Valley Wild Rose Studio pre-coloured image which I cut with Nesties. The grass strip is cut with a Martha Stewart punch and I've added a ribbon across it. The flourish is by Marianne Design and the flower is from my stash. The sentiment is from a box I found in my cupboard which I had totally forgotten about.

On the inside, I have used some more of the pink paper and some green to make the card holder. Stripes of these papers were added to the envelope that holds the gift card (I didn't have a gift card so used a Matalan card that was to hand). The sentiment is from a Stampin Up set called Say It With Scallops

Christmas In June

The girls at Cuttlebug Mania want us to make a Christmas card this week - the first week of glorious weather too! I've based my card on this layout from Seems A Little Sketchy

Most of my Christmas stash has been put away and it's too early to get everything out but I did keep this cute Marianne Design Skater stamp with my other Marianne stash so I've coloured him with Promarkers and cut him with a Nestie die in the Cuttlebug. The backing paper is also by Marianne Design from the Scandinavian Winter bloc. I've embossed a strip of white card with the Swiss Dots folder for the piece across but when it came to do the mat for this, I didn't have enough of the blue card so I've used the scraps from the main piece and only matted the end pieces that show (another card for Pixie's Crafty Snippets Playground). The sentiment is from the same set as the image which was a freebie with a magazine last year - one of the best freebies I've had in a magazine. The skates are a Marianne Design die and I've finished off with a little Stickles.

Card and Gift Bag

This is my second entry for the Crafty Cardmakers challenge to make a card/tag and matching gift wrap/bag/box.

For my card I've followed the sketch at Seems A Little Sketchy

The papers are a mix of Stampin Up and Dovecraft. The topper is from a Kanban kit - they may have gone out of business but I still have loads to use up. For the bag I have used a Rayher handbag template that I got when I was in the Netherlands. I've cut it out from one of the Stampin Up papers I used on the card and added a tag and ribbon

April Showers

Well it's the second day of April and here on the South Coast we've not had a shower yet. In fact it's been a beautiful day. For my card today, I've used this sketch from Seems A Little Sketchy

The theme this week at Cuttlebug Mania is April Showers and the girls there have come up with some beautiful cards. I've used an image from the Mabel Lucie Atwell CD which is so cute. I was going to triple emboss the image to give a glossy look but once I'd put the first layer on, I really liked the mottled look as it reminded me of rain so I have left t at one layer.

The clouds are from a Stampin Up embossing folder which gives a really sharp image. The paper is left over from another project but the colours went so well with the image, I couldn't have found anything better in my stash. I've used a Joy Craft border die across the middle and a Stampin Up die for the greeting. A few gems and the card is finished. I'm also entering this into the Joanna Sheen challenge which is Come Rain Or Shine

Lucky Ewe

A bit late for St Patricks Day but I had the image printed and wanted to use it. It's by Bugaboo and I've coloured it with Promarkers. I've based my layout on the sketch at Seems a Little Sketchy

The corners are an old Spellbinders die and I've moved them to the outside of the card rather than the image square. I've made a little clover flower from a heart punch with a gem inside. The clover backing paper and sentiment were freebies I found Googling but I can't remember where. I,m entering this into the following challenges:

Chocolate

That's the theme for the current challenges at Daring Cardmakers and The Cuttlebug Spot. For my card I've followed this sketch from Seems a Little Sketchy

I've used a stamp by My Favourite Things called Dip me In Chocolate and coloured it with Flexmarkers and cut it with Nesties in my Cuttlebug. The backing paper is from an old pack called Amethyst Infusion by Papermania. Thecicle is cut with a Marianne die and the large piece of card was put through the bug with the Divine Swirls folder and sanded.  A ribbon and sentiment from the same stamp set to finish. I wasn't totally sure about this colour scheme but if Mr Cadbury can get away with it then why not?
