Last Minute .COM

It seems that I'm entering challenges at the last minute all the time now but I think I'm just in time for the CD Sunday challenge this week which is Shop Til You Drop. Now I'm not sure that my card is going to count but I thought I'd enter it anyway. I'm trying to build up my stash of male cards for the animal charity and men and shopping don't really go together that well until I thought that he could be online shopping and then I thought of where most men shop - in the pub - (see why I don't think it will count). Or it could be that he's spent the afternoon shopping with his wife and is recovering in the pub. Either way it's another male card made.

I've followed the layout from Friday Sketch but flipped it (pop over - it's their 2nd Birthday this week)

The image is from The Best Of Just Inklined 2012. For the backing I've used the Stampin Up Woodgrain stamp and the strip of card is stamped with the beer mug from the old Cheers To You set so I'm also entering this into the Crafters Cafe Challenge which is No Designer Paper. I've cut one of them out for the corner and the sentiment is from the same set.

Blockbusters

Remember the old television programme - give us a B Bob? Well I picked up this pack of game cards in a charity shop

Someone had just returned it as there were some cards missing and the manager said to put it in the bin. I'll have it I said and paid the princely sum of 10p. I wanted it more for the idea than the cards and when I saw this weeks sketch at Sketch Saturday, I just knew what I was going to do

I've used one of the playing cards for the background. The hexagons were cut with a Die-namics die. Now I must admit I was caught out by this die as it cuts 3 each of two different sized hexagons. I didn't realise this until I had stuck some down and they just wouldn't fit so I had to start again. It worked out well though as it meant that I could do the two tone green for some of the hexagons. The letter were cut from scraps of black card with a Quickcutz alphabet dies in the Squeeze. And this is the final card

Now to find something to do with the other 30 odd playing cards!

One For Mum

The challenge at Cuttlebug Mania is One For Mum and at the Crafter's Cafe challenge is Mother or Female. For my card, I've used the XCut Doily die and cut a paper from Webster's Pages Best Friends pad which was free with a magazine. I've cut and folded the diecut to make a fan - I did this with a doily at a class at Jendenink but the doily was quite thin. whereas this is quick a good thick paper. I've added a tassle which is from a very old Trimcraft pack by Laurence Llewelyn Bowen and a button from my stash. I've layered some white card embossed with the Cuttlebug roses folder onto pale green card and put it all together. The sentiment is from the Delightful Dozen set by Stampin Up
