Another Zentangle

My new Lyndsay Mason stamps arrived yesterday so I had to have a quick play last night. I've used this sketch from Friday Sketch

The theme at The Butterfly Challenge is Monochromatic so that decided my card colours

Steampunk Owl

The theme at Daring Cardmakers this week is Ink It Up so I got some Distress Inks out for a play. For the background I've used Old Paper and Frayed Burlap stamping the Kaisercraft Bubble Wrap stamp with the latter. The Stampendous Steampunk Owl is stamped with Frayed burlap and coloured with Old Paper and Peacock Feathers with a touch of Walnut Stain on the branches. I've added some garden string and a clock charm from an old bracelet

Get Whale Soon

The challenge at Daring Cardmakers this week is Ingredients - you need an aperture, something beginning with P, diecuts or punchies and some blue. For my card I've used the Stampin Up Whale from the Oh Whale set and stamped straight onto the base card. I've cut and aperture from the backing paper with Nesties and a smaller one from a blue cardstock then layered them on the card with 3D foam. My diecuts are by Marianne and Dienamics and my pearls meet the P requirement. The sentiment is from the same stamp set.

I'm also entering this into the Incy Wincy Ocean Animals challenge and the Crafting Musketeers first challenge which is Anything Goes

Happy 3rd Birthay

The challenge at That Craft Place is to make a card for a child and the Daring Cardmakers challenge is Childs Play. For my card I've used a Clipart Fairy image and this sketch at CRAFT

The backing paper is from the Dovecraft Tea Party pack which goes so well with the image. The border is a Marianne die with ribbon thread through. I've punched some pink card flowers and added some cupcakes from the backing paper to the centres. A Craftwork Cards greeting to finish

You're A Gem

Springing into Spring is the challenge at Daring Cardmakers this week. They want to see a spring on the card so I've used a stamp set by Stampin Up called Out Of The Box and the sentiment is also by Stampin Up. I've used scraps of card for the image and greeting and the backing paper is leftover from this card so I'm also entering this into Pixie's Crafty Snippets. I've used a dotty embossing folder for the base card and added some gems to finish

Chalkboard

I'm in the craft room early this morning as he was snoring so loudly - no, not OH but Buddy!

The girls at Daring Cardmakers have asked us to pay homage to the chalkboard this week. This is my first attempt at doing the Chalkboard technique and I quite enjoyed it. I've followed the tutorial by Betsy Veldman recommended by them. My first attempt didn't quite work - what I though was white powder turned out to be clear! I think I'll be adding some Pan Pastels to that one. I thought the wording on the Amazing Family set by Stampin Up would be perfect for this. I've also used one of the cars from a Tim Holtz set called The Journey. I've stamped them all in Versamark and embossed with WOW Opaque Bright White powder then overstamped with Ink It Up white ink with an Inkssentials white pen around the image. I didn't have any suitable backing papers so I've used the rest of the Tim Holtz set to make my own, stamping with black Versafine. I must say that I do like this technique and it's not as frightening as it first seems once you get going. I was also surprised how quickly it came together but it is a very forgiving technique

A Cute Angle

The challenge at Daring Cardmakers is Make a Cute Angle. I may have gone over the top and used a few too many different ones. I started with the car image from a Tim Holtz set called The Journey. I've stamped it in black on Papermania Chronology paper and embossed with clear powder. I've cut it out and layered it with a hexagonal Nestie. I've used the same backing paper and stamped used some diamonds from another Tim Holtz set called French Market. I've stamped it with Versamark and gone over it with green Pan Pastels. I've added another angle with the chevron stip which is a Dienamics die and use the offcut for the top left corner. The sentiment is by Stampin Up from the Itty Bitty set cut with the matching die. I'm also entering it into the following challenges:

Typography

Typography is the theme of the current challenge at Daring Cardmakers and I thought it was a great chance to use my new stamp set by Indigo Blu called Little Voice. This is a great set and mostly just words apart from this car image which I thought was great fun. Indigo Blu have also launched a challenge on their blog and the first challenge is Blue so I've combined both challenges for this card. I've stamped the text/image with Pacific Point ink and added some pan Pastels around the edge. The backing paper is from the Chronology pack by Papermania but the colour wasn't quite right so I've added some Pan Pastels lightly over it to tone it in. The embossed panel is made with a Cuttlebug folder and the sanded lightly to distress it. I'm also entering this into the Polka Doodles challenge which this week is Distressing

Sausages

It's a colour combo challenge at Daring Cardmakers this week using the colours in this picture

For my card I've used the new Papermania Urban Stamps Sausage Dog. I've got a pile of odd 6x6 papers on my desk that I'm trying to use up so I've stamped him onto one of the and then stamped the ear again on a darker paper. I've used one of the papers as a base layer then cut a green embossed piece into three. The greeting is computer generated and I thought it was apt as this is one of my cards for the forces - I hope it makes someone smile when they get it

Chocolate

That's the theme for the current challenges at Daring Cardmakers and The Cuttlebug Spot. For my card I've followed this sketch from Seems a Little Sketchy

I've used a stamp by My Favourite Things called Dip me In Chocolate and coloured it with Flexmarkers and cut it with Nesties in my Cuttlebug. The backing paper is from an old pack called Amethyst Infusion by Papermania. Thecicle is cut with a Marianne die and the large piece of card was put through the bug with the Divine Swirls folder and sanded.  A ribbon and sentiment from the same stamp set to finish. I wasn't totally sure about this colour scheme but if Mr Cadbury can get away with it then why not?

Fly, Fly Butterfly

That's the challenge at Daring Cardmakers this week. For my card I've used a backing paper from the Marianne Beautiful Butterflies pad. The sentiment is by Inkylicious called Far Away. I've stamped it onto a Nestie that has been coloured with purple and blue Pan Pastels. The ribbon is purple with a blue tinge and edge. The butterfly was stamped onto Clearly For Art film with a Chocolate Baroque stamp from the Tangled Garden set and coloured with blue and purple alcohol inks but you can hardly see the stamped image. I've then heated it with a heat gun and shaped it. I've since found out that you can do this with good acetate packaging but it is not quite as thick. I've tried it with acetate from a Bigz die and a Cuttlebug embossing folder so a good excuse to buy more of these.  A few gems and it's finished. I'm also entering this into the Pan Pastels challenge which is to use two colours - Blue & Purple

WOW

 I really find white on white cards a challenge but thought I'd have a go at this one at That Crafty Place. For this challenge you are allowed to use a coloured image but I've gone with a simple stamp again from the Stampin Up Ain't Love Grand set. I've cut it out with a Marianne Designs small oval and layered it with the larger oval of the set. The flowers are also a Marianne die and the corners are an old Sizzix cut n emboss die. I can never get the flowers the same size but then neither can nature. The leaves are fabric and have been sitting on my window sill for ages waiting to be used. It's been such a dull day the picture hasn't come out too well - all the elements apart from the leaves are cut from the same cardstock although looking at the flowers you wouldn't think so. I'll try and get a better picture tomorrow.
