Cardz 4 Guyz - No Patterned Paper

We had a fabulous response to our CAS challenge at Cardz 4 Guyz  last week - thanks to everyone who entered. This week we don't want you to use any patterned paper on your creations and this is what I've come up with

Highland Painter

It's my SIL's birthday next week and I'm never sure what sort of card to make her so I asked my brother for ideas. The only thing he could come up with is that she's about to decorate their lounge in a Scottish theme so he suggested mountains, log cabins, deer, tartan and heather! It all sounded a bit masculine to me so I've just gone with the decorating, tartan and heather. I've based it on this sketch from Seems A Little Sketchy but it may not be close enough to the layout

The backing paper is from a Paper Cellar pad of tartan papers which I bought for use on masculine cards but this one was just right. Themain  image is an old one from The Digi Garden and is no longer available. The pot and brushes are from a Personal Impressions set by Cathie Shuttleworth called DIY Bits. I've used Promarkers to colour and added some glossy accents on the paint

Less Is More - Use A Rubber Stamp

This weeks challenge at Less Is More is to use a rubber stamp and watercolours. It wasn't until I started writing this post that I realised that my stamp isn't actually rubber but I'm hoping clear stamps will count too.

I've used the scene stamp from Woodware's Wine Buffs set and stamped it in Versafine black onto a scrap of linen card and then embossed it with clear powder. I've used my Aqua Markers to colour it. I've trimmed it off and layered it onto a tall linen card base. The sentiment is from my new set by My Favourite things called Clearly Sentimental About Art which at got at My Mum's Craft Shop on Saturday at their discount day.

Gift Card Holder

The challenge at My Craft Spot is to make a gift card holder. I've used this sketch at Seems A Little Sketchy for the front

I've used some pretty pink paper that's been say on my desk for ages and a cute Lily Of The Valley Wild Rose Studio pre-coloured image which I cut with Nesties. The grass strip is cut with a Martha Stewart punch and I've added a ribbon across it. The flourish is by Marianne Design and the flower is from my stash. The sentiment is from a box I found in my cupboard which I had totally forgotten about.

On the inside, I have used some more of the pink paper and some green to make the card holder. Stripes of these papers were added to the envelope that holds the gift card (I didn't have a gift card so used a Matalan card that was to hand). The sentiment is from a Stampin Up set called Say It With Scallops

Addicted To Stamps Photo Inspiration

The challenge at Addicted To Stamps & More this week is to use this picture for inspiration

As soon as I saw the picture I thought of the Woodware Huge Happy Birthday stamp. I've stamped in black Memento and coloured with Promarkers in primary colours and where it overlaps I've used the new colours they make. I was a little disappointed that the way I did it there wasn't much green so I've added some green card for the background which I've partially embossed with the Cuttlebug numbers folder. Red, yellow and blue gems on the un-embossed card to finish

Addicted To Colours

It's colour week at Addicted To Stamps and this is the colours they've chosen

I don't have any Perfect Plum so I've used Lavender Lace instead. I've based my card on a class I did with Jane Gill at the Glitter Pot. Jane put some lovely colour combinations together and I thought these colours would look good too.The main image is Wheat stamp by Woodware which I've stamped in Versamark and embossed with WOW white powder. I've randomly dabbed the three colours over the embossed image. The sentiment is from the same set and is embossed and coloured the same way. The background stamp is Grasses Background again by Woodware and I've stamped this on So Saffron card with Versamark and embossed with clear powder

Pleasant Poppies

The challenge at Pan Pastels this week is to use the colours Red, White and Blue. For my card I've used the Stampin Up Pleasant Poppies stamp and stamped through one of the Clever Cut aperture masks. I've embossed the black lines with clear powder and coloured with Promarkers. I've use the black Promarker with a fine nib to draw around the template then placed the inside of the template over the poppies and used Permanant Red Pan Pastel around it. These pastels have so much colour I only used what was still on the sponge from a previous project as I only wanted a light effect. I've added some small blue butterflies which were cut with a Stampin Up Embosslit from scaps of paper and some black Stickles for the centres of the open poppies. The Gardener

I just love this Snoesjes stamp by Marianne  Design. It is actually a front and back set but  for this card I've only used the front image which I've coloured with Pomarkers. I've used lots of Marianne dies for this including the frame the image is on. The backing paper is from the Vintage Pastels paper pack. The sentiment is by Stampin Up. I've added some gems as water from the watering can to finish

Addicted To Stamps CAS

This weeks challenge at Addicted To Stamps is Clean & Simple. I've made three versions of the same card as I couldn't decide which I like best. They all use a stamp from the Stampin Up Easy Events set which I think is perfect for CAS cards. The ink and card are Wild Wasabi. The first one I've coloured the leaves with a Wild Wasabi marker but I think I prefer the other uncoloured ones - they look more CAS. I've put glossy accents on the berries on the first two cards and added peals for the third. I've added Xmas Red Stickles to all the berries on the corner. The only other difference is that for the first card I've used textured cardstock. Looking at them now, I think the corners take away dfrom the CAS look but I don't have time to make another one for the challenge so I'll stick with this. I think the pearl card is my favourite but at least I've got three more Christmas cards ready

Addicted to Colours

The girls at Addicted To Stamps have come up with a colour challenge using the following colours

Now I don't have those particular colours so I've used Victorian Velvet, Pumice Stone and Tumbled Glass Distress Inks. The stamp is a large Woodware one called Wheat and the sentiment is from the same set. I recently did a class at the Glitter Pot with Jane Gill and this is my version of the cards that we made using a different stamp. I've stamped the image and sentiment with Versamark and embossed with white opaque WOW powder. I've then gone over with the distress inks . I've layered it onto a piece of turquoise card which I've stamped and embossed the wheat stamp. A few pearls to finish

Peeking Posies

I missed the challenge at Feeling Sketchy last week so I thought I'd get my card for this weeks challenge done earlier - this is the sketch

As soon as I saw the sketch I thought of the Peeking Posies stamp set by Hero Arts. I've used three of the flowers from the set and coloured them with Promarkers. The fourth square is from another Hero Arts set called Message Tags and is stamped with Certainly Celery ink. I've added some gold Stickles to the stamen and a ribbon to finish. I'm also entering this into the A Blog Named Hero which is Free Style and the Addicted To Stamps challenge which is On Your Mark

Typical - I made this card early and then forgot to photograph it as the Stickles were drying but at least I've made the deadline

All Aboard

This is another Darkroom Door stamp but this is from the Tour Eiffel set. I've followed the layout at Addicted to Stamps for my card

I've stamped the image with Ruby Red ink and edged it with Pan Pastels before layering it up. The backing paper is from the new Papermania All Aboard pad and the sticker is from the same range. I must admit I couldn't resist the latest Docraft Goody Bag as it was a mix of this All Aboard range and their new Kraft Forever Friends range and I know I'll be using all of it. I also got 20% off at a demo day so even greater value and it's been a few years since I was even tempted by one

Best Dad Ever

The challenge at Addicted To Stamps is Addicted to Clean & Simple so I popped over the the Less Is More challenge blog to see what their challenge is this week and it's One Layer Spots & Stripes. I've not done a card for Less Is More for ages so it's about time I had a go again. For my card I've used the Stampin Up set Best Dad Ever which suits to challenge to a tee. I've embossed a frame using a Nestie then stamped the ties and sentiment with Majestic Blue Versafine. A very quick card so I'll be making a few in different colours for the animal charity shop

Thinking Of You

This is a quick one layer card based on one that I did at a workshop at Kraft Crazy with Julia Dunnit. I've cut a template with a Nestie and shaded in some Bundled Sage Distress Ink. I've then stamped the leaves from Stampin Up's Summer Silhouettes set in the same ink stamping twice to get a lighter shade. I've then stamped the stem from the same set with Forest Moss and the flowers with Barn Door. The inside of the Nestie ws then used to draw round 3 times with a Rose Red marker. The sentiment is from Sincere Salutations, another Stampin Up set. I'm entering this into the Addicted to Stamps challenge which this week is Stamping

Candi Stamps

This card is made with a set of Candi stamps which were free with Simply Cards & Papercraft. I've stamped the heart in red and cut it out with Netsies. The candi was free with the magazine too. I've layered it onto pink then red card - the pink card is embossed with a Sizzix hearts folder. The tags are made with the Stampin Up set called Tiny Tags and punched with an SU punch. A small heart gem holds them on - well not really but that's the effect!

It might seem a bit late to be making Valentines cards but this is going to the forces and it can take some time for it to get there, hence it doesn't actually say Valentine but the sentiment is there

Aren't these little mices cute? They were a limited time freebie on Lyn's blog at Spyder's Corner but you can get them in her store  here now. It's well worth becoming a follower of her blog as not only does she create some delightful cards, she very kindly offers a weekly freebie.

I printed these off for a challenge that I never got around to entering so they were sat on my desk waiting to be dealt with. I've coloured them with Promarkers and cut them out with Nesties. I've followed this challenge at Sketch Saturday

and used a Marianne die to layer it onto. The pink strip is cut with a Martha Stewart punch which I love but just don't use enough. Ribbon and flowers from my stash and the leaves are another Marianne die. I', also entering this into the Addicted to Stamps challenge which is Make your Mark - I've used my Promarkers, and the Cutie Pie challenge as you can't deny these mice are cute.
